About
Carolina Haraki is a multi-disciplinary printed textiles designer specialising in interactive art. She graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in Illustration before studying printed textiles at the Royal College of Art.
Storytelling is at the heart of Carolina’s practice. Her work often embeds an element of activism in a playful and engaging way through designing immersive experiences.
Her desire to unearth the hidden landscapes and narratives of a space by translating them into artworks has directed her practice towards creating site-specific artwork that is engaging, interactive and experiential. In her first year at the RCA, she was commissioned by the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland to create the first sculpture to launch ‘Giraffe About Town’, a large-scale public art event taking place during the summer of 2022 in Edinburgh. ‘The Journey of a Floating World’ is another public space installation that Carolina completed, where 30 floating, ambiguous and playful sculptural forms invite the audience to experience a familiar space, the promenade in Limassol, Cyprus, in new ways.
This year, Carolina has been investigating how new technologies in textiles that are reactive to the human body can open up a channel of communication between humans and the natural world.
